She knew she was in trouble. She was late. He hated waiting at the best of times, but today had been a bad day on a number of fronts for him.

They had run into an accident on the highway, causing a traffic jam on the way to Philly, which had made them late for the game. Of course they had been late leaving the house because she couldn’t find one of her favorite boots – until she remembered the last time she had worn them. He had been impatient to undress her and had pitched them over his head and across the room. She had found it behind a chair next to the dresser.

When they got to the arena they were informed that their star jack linebacker was down with the flu. Then halfway through the first quarter a wide receiver got hit hard and had to be helped off the field. Luckily it looked like it was only a pulled muscle, but he was out for the rest of the game. Needless to say the Soul lost the game which didn’t help his mood. He didn’t even eat any of the food that the caterers had brought to the box.

Feeling sorry for him she tried to think of some way to make him feel better. Heading up to his office she found the privacy she was looking for to put her plan into motion. A couple of the calls took longer than she expected, and that’s why she was once again late.

Running down the steps her eyes scanned the arena searching for him. She knew he wouldn’t leave the building without her – he was very protective, even when he was pissed. Finally she spotted him on the field leaning against the boards, his coat slung over one shoulder, arms crossed and, as she expected, a very annoyed look on his face.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” She apologized breathlessly as she approached him.

Pushing away from the boards he just grunted and slid his arms into the sleeves of his coat. “Can we go now?”

She nodded, pressing her lips together to hold back a smile. He really was cranky! Since he had team meetings the next day they were staying in Philly tonight in a suite at a nearby hotel that the team kept on game nights for situations just like this.

He didn’t say a word the whole trip to the hotel and up to the room with exception of thanking the desk clerk for the key. He didn’t notice the clerk nodding at her indicating that everything was in order as she had requested.

Walking into the suite he took off his coat and threw it in a chair before plopping down on the couch with a sigh.

After hanging up his coat and her own she walked over to the trolley that had been set up in a corner. Picking up the bottle of wine she poured a glass and took it to him.

Looking up when the glass appeared in front of him he took it. “Thanks.”
“Are you hungry?” She asked quietly. He shook his head.

Knowing he was just being sullen and stubborn, she walked back to the trolley and lifted the lids off the plates that were waiting, still hot. Making up his plate with poppers, wings and a steak sandwich from Chickie & Pete’s she took it to him. “Are you sure?”

She could hear his stomach growling when the aroma hit his nose. Smiling in spite of himself he took the plate she offered. “How did you manage this?”

“That’s why I was late meeting you after the game. You’ve had such a rotten day that I thought I’d try to make you feel better – especially since I’m the one that made us late in the first place…sort of.” She smiled. “And after dinner I’ll give you a back rub and we can watch The Godfather – in whichever order you want.”

Grinning, he took a big bite of his sandwich and settled in to enjoy his meal. Sitting beside him with her grilled chicken salad, she watched him almost wolf down his food.

“Hey babe, slow down. We’ve got all night, and you’ll enjoy it more without indigestion.” She chuckled.

Shoving the last bite in his mouth, he stood, grabbed his glass and the bottle with one hand and headed for the bedroom pulling his shirt off as he went. “Are you coming?” He called.

Grinning, she finished her salad and followed him. Entering the bedroom she found him sprawled naked facedown on the bed. “I take it that you want your back rub first.” She observed. He nodded. She started to climb up on the bed, but he stopped her. “Nuh huh. No clothes allowed on this bed tonight.”

Obliging, she stripped and climbed on the bed. Straddling his hips she began kneading his tight muscles starting at his shoulders and moving to his waist, lingering over the spots that she knew gave him the most trouble, smiling when he groaned in response. “There? Is that the spot? Does that feel good?”

“Mmmm, baby you have magic hands. That feels wonderful.” Moving suddenly, he reached behind him, grabbed her and flipped her onto her back, carefully laying on top of her. Nudging her legs apart with one of his own, he thrust two fingers inside her, smiling at the knowledge that touching him had aroused her. “And so does this.”

“Oh my God! Jon!” She gasped, amazed as always how quickly he could drive her insane. Framing his face with her hands, she pulled him down to capture his mouth. “Jon, now, please!”

Replacing his fingers with his hard shaft, he thrust deep, groaning at the feel of her walls closing around him. Moving slowly at first, then faster, deeper, harder he drove her over the edge, following quickly as she squeezed him tight.

Rolling onto his back he cradled her in his arms, and reached for the remote. Turning on the movie, he picked up his wine glass and sipped, offering the glass to her.

Taking a sip she gazed up at him. “Feel better?

He grinned. “Baby, if this is what I have to look forward to, you can make us late anytime!”
